About Me

Collin Mays, hailing from Michigan, is a distinguished figure in local government and an ardent philanthropist. His career, marked by leadership and professionalism, is dedicated to serving the public, focusing on economic growth and fostering inclusivity. He founded LMS Solutions, a strategic planning consulting firm aiding local governments and nonprofits. His diverse career includes roles in Delta Township, the State of Michigan, the City of Cincinnati, Michigan Works, and the City of Center Line.

In Cincinnati, as Director, he oversees crucial programs like the Living Wage Program, MBE/WBE/SBE certification programs, and compliance with Prevailing Wage laws. He strives to cultivate a more inclusive environment, a commitment also evident in his community outreach. His work in Delta Charter Township as a Community and Economic Development official, particularly aiding minority-owned small businesses, showcases his dedication to societal growth.

Collin’s academic background includes a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Western Michigan University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Oakland University. His education underpins his professional understanding, providing a comprehensive perspective that enhances his work.

Recognition for his excellence is widespread. He received the Michigan Chronicle 40 under 40 distinction in 2015, was part of Crain’s Detroit Business 20 in their 20s in 2019, and was awarded the 2023 Steven D. Ford award for professional excellence by NFBPA. His alma mater honored him with the Alumni Achievement Award in 2022, acknowledging his influential career.

Collin is involved in critical social communities like the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA). His leadership and dedication to community service are evident in these roles.

Beyond professional commitments, he enjoys playing the saxophone, exercising, and engaging in philanthropy. He chaired the Alzheimer’s Walk 2021 in Detroit and was the 2023 Chairperson for the Soul of Philanthropy. These roles demonstrate his belief in giving back to the community.
